Poems from the upcoming volume - Gems of Glory

I'm sorry that I cannot see the days that "used to be"
But I can read about them, and glimpse their majesty!
Yet, I cannot see full-well (It may be the view is better)
Whatever the case may be, it's not just "to the letter"

Someday, you will "look" to see - what happened in my day.
I sometimes shudder at the thought of what you'll have to say!
Hurry? Frenzy? Gray or gloom?
If sunshine, if flowers
I hope you will
Be able still
to see the bloom of flowers.

Stress

Pressure from deep inside the earth
Cause mountains to be made;
Tall and stately toward the sky,
With trees for wood or shade.

Likewise, we see great men are grown
From stress inside their soul
They fight for right - then victory -
They leave for us a goal!

Trace and I would like to make one change to the last verse in honor of the 4Th of July:

Likewise, we see great men are grown
From stress inside their soul
They fight for right - then liberty -
They leave for us a goal!

Dinner at Raider Ranch

One of the last times we took MJ out to dinner and icecream before she went to Raider Ranch

Get ready for more posts. We are back in Lubbock and Momma Jean is staying at Raider Ranch in a fabulous room! We will be posting more updates and pictures - hopefully weekly- so we can all keep up with our favorite MJ.

Busy Day

Today was a very busy day. Momma Jean had 2 doctors appointments so Pam decided to make it a day for all of us. She and Momma Jean went to the first appointment then came back to the house. We sat in the "drawing room," Trace and Pam fiddled with the computer while Momma Jean picked out cards, then we left to get Jessica. After that, it was off to Casa Ole. In case you didn't know, the Casa Ole at 4th and Frankfurt is where Momma Jean and Daddo would sneak off and share a "Cancun" dinner.( I think it was their favorite spot.)That is where we had lunch today. We had just enough time to go to the cemetary to see Daddo. It just so happens that Daddo is right beside his friend and fellow elder of the Church in Wolfforth, Charles Henserling. They didn't plan it that way, it was one of those syncronisity things...
Then, time for the neurologist appointment, home to yard work, dinner and a walk around the block. It is very nice to share the privalege of caring for Momma Jean with Pam, Bruce, Trace, and our daughter Jessica. If she has to have this awful disease, then I want to be part of the care group. I am thankful that we have the honor to care for her and keep her at home for as long as we can.

Crazy Hair Day!

Today is Crazy Hair Day at Inspirations! We debated what to do. First I suggested we "dye" our hair with wash out spray.

"Oh, No!" was Momma Jean's reply. "what if it won't come out?" Now I don't think that's such a bad thing, I have been thinking of pink streaks, myself. I laughed and said, "Don't worry, we will clip something in your hair that will come out..." OK, that didn't work either!

We searched and searched and this is what we came up with! Please check out "Mamma Jemia"

August Clouds

The August clouds are lovely;
They float there in the sky.
They seem to say, "we're passing folks,
...just really passing by!"
Those rains will come next month, you know,
Right now...enjoy that sky -
Those lovely, fluffy, August clouds,
While they are passing by!

We are like those clouds, I think,
So let us really try,
to see the beauty in us all,
While we are passing by!

Poems of Flowers

Today we wrote down word topics, dropped them in a basket and picked one. Our topic was flowers. Here are the results:

The days are nice when
flowers bloom,
They perfume the air
we breath
It lifts the gloom
from every room--
and it's pleasantness
won't deceive!
Momma Jean, 2010
Flowers, Flowers everywhere,
Petals scattered 'neath my chair!
Fragrance drifts along the breeze,
sometimes bringing on a sneeze!
Pink and blue, orange and red
blossoms circle 'round my head
Butterflies flutter by
drifting upward to the sky.
Lavender, mint and four o'clocks,
special inspiration rocks
water fountains, birds galore,
within my garden walls adore.

AND NOW A SPECIAL ODE TO LUCY
Lucy-fer that evil cat,
she'll lure you in and
then that's that!

When I'm An Old Lady

When I'm An Old Lady
When I'm an old lady, I'll live with each kid,
And bring so much happiness...just as they did.
I want to pay back all the joy they've provided,
Returning each deed. Oh, they'll be so excited!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids).
I'll write on the wall with red, whites and blues,
And bounce on the furniture wearing my shoes.
I'll drink from the carton and then leave it out.
I'll stuff all the toilets and, oh, how they'll shout!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids).
When they're on the phone and just out of reach,
I'll get into things like sugar and bleach,
Oh, they'll snap their fingers and then shake their heads,
And when that is done I'll hide under the bed!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids).
When they cook dinner and call me to eat,
I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat.
I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table,
And when they get angry I'll run...if I'm able!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids).
I'll sit close to the TV, through channels I'll click,
I'll cross both my eyes just to see if they stick.
I'll take off my socks and throw one away,
And play in the mud 'til the end of the day!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids).
And later in bed, I'll lay back and sigh,
I'll thank God in prayer and then close my eyes.
My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping,
And say with a groan, "She's so sweet, when she's sleeping!"
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids).
